I started getting interested in SEM & SEO when I owned a successful pest control company in Sydney, Australia (Best Pest Control) about 5 years ago.
I was running 8 trucks at my peak and was paying around $80,000 pa to Yellow Pages and other advertising mediums.
I decided to launch a website and I formed a business relationship with a web designing firm,
www.justweb.com.au.
They gave me lots of helpful advice, and told me how search engine marketing was the way of the future.
I got interested in Google and started reading everything I could find about search engine optimization to cut my advertising costs.
I started off trying to get popular for “Pest Control Sydney” wrote a lot of articles,
and went on various forms of link strategies until I achieved the No. 1 position for this phrase in both Google and Yahoo.
I went on to optimize all of the services that my company provided including termites, cockroaches, ants etc.,
until I reached Page One results in all of them, including the biggest and most profitable phrase, “Pest Control.”
In the peak season, this type of internet marketing was bringing in 15-20 leads per day, especially for termite work and inspections.
It was mainly on the basis off this online success that I ended selling the business for a very comfortable sum.
I made the transmission fairly easily through networking, and now make my living by servicing around 20 regular clients.
I also make a good income through my Adsense earnings on 25 of my websites.
I joined SEMPO last year and I am currently completing the “Insider's Guide to Search Marketing” course with a view to completing the Advanced course.
I see these courses and SEMPO membership as foundation stones to the building of my business.
I really enjoy the work and helping business owners grow their businesses.
