SEMPO Institute, i.c. stars, and SIM Partners Align to Create Career Opportunities


High School Graduates Given Training and Jobs in the Growing Industry of Search Engine Marketing

Wakefield, MA, June 17, 2008 - Organizations like i.c. stars, www.icstars.org, find the continued troubling economic news can impact on its ability to achieve its goal of helping young adults become community leaders in Chicago. This not-for-profit organization uses project-based learning and full immersion teaching for future leaders to develop business and technology knowledge.

Luckily, Strategic Internet Marketing (SIM) Partners, www.simpartners.biz, began volunteering with i.c. stars more than four years ago. This boutique online marketing firm has introduced i.c. stars and its future leaders to the continuously growing industry of search engine marketing. According to Search Engine Marketing Professionals Organization (SEMPO), www.SEMPO.org, the industry in North America will double from $12.2 billion in spending in 2007 to $25.2 billion by 2011.

“As co-chair of the SEMPO Institute, it made perfect sense to connect these two organizations when the SEMPO Institute launched in 2007,” says Jon Schepke, founder and president of SIM Partners. SEMPO Institute, www.sempoinstitute.com, is the career development division of SEMPO and offers online courses that teach search engine marketing.

“The i.c.stars partnership with SEMPO and SIM Partners has enabled a new and growth-oriented career option for graduates in the area of Internet Marketing,” states Eric Lannert, vice president of i.c. stars. He continues, “the volunteer efforts of SIM Partners have enabled us to modify our internal curriculum so students can manage their own Google Adwords campaigns for startup websites and gain experience. At a time of economic uncertainty, we see this partnership as a strategic initiative to continue providing meaningful and challenging job opportunities for our students.”

Schepke stated, “we have hired two young professionals from i.c. stars, Seth Allen and R.J. Marquez, to join our team. Both passed SEMPO Institute courses while at i.c. stars. Based on the training received at i.c. stars and the SEMPO Institute they were able to plug in to our day-to-day operations immediately.”
